E-COMMERCE

The Internet has created a new economic ecosystem, the e-commerce marketplace, and it has become the virtual main street of the world. Providing a quick and convenient way of exchanging goods and services both regionally and globally, e-commerce has boomed. Today, e-commerce has grown into a huge industry with US online retail generating $175B in revenues in 2007,

Benefits Of  E -Commerce
E Commerce is one of the most important facets of the Internet to have emerged in the recent times. Ecommerce or electronic commerce involves carrying out business over the Internet with the assistance of computers, which are linked to each other forming a network. To be specific ecommerce would be buying and selling of goods and services and transfer of funds through digital communications.

Ecommerce allows people to carry out businesses without the barriers of time or distance. One can log on to the Internet at any point of time, be it day or night and purchase or sell anything one desires at a single click of the mouse.
The direct cost-of-sale for an order taken from a web site is lower than through traditional means (retail, paper based), as there is no human interaction during the on-line electronic purchase order process. Also, electronic selling virtually eliminates processing errors, as well as being faster and more convenient for the visitor.
Ecommerce is ideal for niche products. Customers for such products are usually few. But in the vast market place i.e. the Internet, even niche products could generate viable volumes.
Another important benefit of Ecommerce is that it is the cheapest means of doing business.
The day-to-day pressures of the marketplace have played their part in reducing the opportunities for companies to invest in improving their competitive position. A mature market, increased competitions have all reduced the amount of money available to invest. If the selling price cannot be increased and the manufactured cost cannot be decreased then the difference can be in the way the business is carried out. Ecommerce has provided the solution by decimating the costs, which are incurred.

Disadvantages of E-Commerce
Electronic commerce is also characterized by some technological and inherent limitations which has restricted the number of people using this revolutionary system. One important disadvantage of e-commerce is that the Internet has still not touched the lives of a great number of people, either due to the lack of knowledge or trust. A large number of people do not use the Internet for any kind of financial transaction. Some people simply refuse to trust the authenticity of completely impersonal business transactions, as in the case of e-commerce. Many people have reservations regarding the requirement to disclose personal and private information for security concerns. Many times, the legitimacy and authenticity of different e-commerce sites have also been questioned.
Another limitation of e-commerce is that it is not suitable for perishable commodities like food items. People prefer to shop in the conventional way than to use e-commerce for purchasing food products. So e-commerce is not suitable for such business sectors. The time period required for delivering physical products can also be quite significant in case of e-commerce. A lot of phone calls and e-mails may be required till you get your desired products. However, returning the product and getting a refund can be even more troublesome and time consuming than purchasing, in case if you are not satisfied with a particular product.

Atlas authoring

The construction of the animations and annotated images involves several image processing steps implemented by the authoring client programs. Ideally these steps should all be automatic once a 3-D anatomic model can be deformed to fit the data. However, since we have not solved this problem we use a more traditional approach, but with an eye toward integrating advances in knowledge-based segmentation from our own lab and from those of others.
The 3-D models are generated by a process of 3-D reconstruction from serial sections. The input is an image volume consisting of a set of serial sections. Two well-known examples of this kind of input are the Visible Human male and female, but clinical image volumes can also be used. The cross-section of each structure on each of these images is segmented, using a manual segmentation tool called Morpho. The resulting stack of contours is input to our locally-developed Skandha program. Skandha is then used to reconstruct the contours into a 3-D surface, to combine surfaces into 3-D models, and to render the models, either as static 2-D images or as Quicktime animations. In our production system most of these tasks are done manually (without the aid of shape knowledge), which is not a major burden since only one or two canonical models are being developed.

The 2-D images are annotated by a Java-based software tool we call Frame Builder, which allows the author to delineate regions on the images, and to label them either with the structure names or with commands to open other images. The annotations are saved in a separate file we call a frame. The combined animations and image-frame pairs are saved in a separate directory, one for each atlas.

LlFE POEM

Just Being Me
by Elsa Nora
The life I seek must be fast
The speed of life makes me laugh!
Death's just around the corner for
a Queer like me!
Well so they say all of them Freaks.
Homophobia I really do detest
What I am is what I do best!
Like if you want, Answer! This ain't no test
If you like me, "Great," then we're friends
If you hate me don't make me get upset!
I'm just a Dike whom nobody Straight likes
Well forget you all, cause we love each other
my Baby and I!
You don't have to shake my hand,
I'm not asking you to stare.
If you don't like what you see,
then get the Hell out of here!
I am what I am, So please understand
Even if you don't "Who really gives a damn?"
